In 2022 an estimated 1500 walkers took part raising much needed funds for their chosen charities and good causes. The 2023 Walk follows the Wirral coastline from the Floral Pavilion at New Brighton to Wirral Country Park Visitor Centre at Thurstaston, a distance of 12.5 miles. For more details of the route see our page titled 'The Route'.
It is a fun event for walkers of all ages and abilities. Its main attraction, apart from the exercise and the opportunity to view the beautiful Wirral coastline, is that Walkers can raise money through sponsorship for the charity or ‘good cause’ of their own choosing. For many local organisations and charities, the Walk has become a significant event in their money-raising calendar.
Every aspect of the event is organised and controlled by the Rotary Club of North Wirral. All a walker needs to do is ask/send for or download a registration / sponsorship form, obtain some sponsorship (if possible), turn up on the day, pay the registration fee and participate. Alternatively walkers can prepay for the event online.
Drinks are not provided en-route and we would ask Walkers to note this and provide their own but food and drinks are on sale at the finish. St John Ambulance will be on hand along the way just in case there is a need for first aid. At the finish buses will be available which, for a small donation, will transport you back to the Floral Pavilion New Brighton or to West Kirby railway station.
So dust off those walking shoes and invite, enrol, persuade, cajole, threaten or blackmail family and friends into joining you for a great day out whilst raising money for your favourite charity or 'good cause'.
